Horseshoes & Hot Dogs July 5, 2005

Yesterday I went to my best friend’s annual 4th of July bash. There’s no better way to spend the 4th than with great friends, great food, water fights, and a pool under sunny blue skies. Best part…made it to the semi-finals in their horseshoe tournament and…drum roll…made a couple of ringers! :-) Who knew swimming would come in handy with horse shoes…

This weekend was pretty relaxing. Well, after my workouts that is…they come first. :-) But after that, I relaxed. Anyway, here’s a summary of my workouts: Saturday was the usual workout-1000m swim, 45 min weights, 45 min bike, 2 mile run. Forgot to take an energy bar or banana with me though so was a little low on energy by the time I finished my run, but I had a great swim. Sunday-3 mile run (great run) and then Pilates. Monday-1000m swim, 45 min weights, 45 min bike.

I ran 2 miles this morning. My legs felt really good and when I was done I was ready to go again. But I’m trying to build my runs back up slowly so I headed home. The 35 min bike to work was uneventful although I couldn’t get that Depeche Mode song “Route 66” out of my head. I guess since it happens to be the route I take to work, hmm? :-) Hopefully, all the cars passing me had their windows rolled up so they didn’t hear me singing on my bike. Don’t say it…I know… I’m a nut! :-) Another 35 min to get home tonight w/ a sprinkling of Pilates. Should be a good day.
